Anxiety Control The Training was found to produce
substantial anxiety-reduction
benefits in 6 consecutive studies.
The more promising cognitive and desensitization protocols yield a respectable 1.0 – 1.2 SD benefit. The anxiety control training produced an average 1.8 SD benefit in our first 5 studies, showing significantly stronger anxiety reduction. Substantial Test Gains18 percentile test gains. In our Spring 2004 College study, the training CD produced significant three quarters a letter grade (or 18 percentile) test gains, for 12 freshmen students. 12 percentile test gains. In our 2010 nursing program study, the protocol produced 60+ point gains on the hesi standardized test, or 12 percentile gains, for 22 highly-anxious juniors (compared to controls) . 7 percentile test gains. Our 2005 5th grade research had 22 treated students and 14 controls. The training produced a significant 7 percentile gain on the Tennessee high-stakes, high-stress TCAP tests. 4 percentile test gains for 6th graders on 2004 TCAPS. We conclude that the training protocol should
produce a substantial half grade benefit for anxious high school and
college students, and a more modest quarter grade benefit for
intermediate and middle school students. |
